Dr. Georg Engelbrecht has studied law at the Universities of Freiburg, Paris and Hamburg. Admitted to the Hamburg Bar in 1969, he has been partner of Curschmann Rechtsanwälte since 1971, which merged in 1999 with Wessing & Berenberg-Gossler (now TaylorWessing). In 2002 Dr. Engelbrecht entered REMÉ Rechtsanwälte, Hamburg.

Since January 2011 Dr. Engelbrecht is admitted to the Bar of Saarland as a single lawyer in Saarbrücken. He is allowed to plead before all German courts and Tribunals (except for the Federal Civil Tribunal, BGH). He represented various clients in constitutional complaints before the Federal Constitutional Court (BVerfG), as well as one in preliminary decision proceedings before the Court of Justice of the European Union.

Main Areas of Practice: Civil and Commercial Law, Company Law, Employment Law, Law of Inheritance, European Community Law, Occupational accident Law (professional sports), Sports Law, Wind Energy Law.

Languages: Next to German and English, fluent in French and Spanish.

Additional functions: Arbitrator of the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS/TAS) in Lausanne/Switzerland, Member of the EAA Court of the European Athletic Association, Chairman of the Disciplinary Commission of the German Athletic Federation (DLV).

Professional Affiliations: Member of the Working-Groups with the German Lawyers’ Association (DAV) in Employment Law, International Law and Sports Law, member of the German Association for Sports Law e.V. – Konstanzer Arbeitskreis. Previous member of the Association Internationale des Jeunes Avocats (AIJA) and Union Internationale des Avocats (UIA) for many years.
